Reviews Corner – A New Section on this Site

I’ve reviewed quite a few books on this blog now, but finding those reviews was… challenging. It was possible to find them via the appropriate category but, to be honest, that’s a bit rubbish, so now I’ve created a launch page for them and have called it… Reviews Corner.

Yeah, I know – hardly original but it does what it says on the tin. On a side note, I wonder if that phrase means anything outside of the UK? (It’s a long-running advert here). OK – coming back from that sidetrack, having the Reviews Corner page gives a few advantages:

  • The page groups the reviews into related sections (Sci-Fi Books, Fantasy Books and Other Books so far). That’s helpful already, and as I add films, games and maybe music that’s only going to become more useful.
  • It provides a single spot to find all the reviews I’ve written.
  • It reminds me of books I should go back and reread. Really! I’ve just started on Fred the Vampire Accountant again after reading my own review.

There’s not much else to say, other than a reminder that I only review things I’ve really liked and think are worth passing on. There are books I’ve not enjoyed much, and even some I’ve abandoned partway through, but I wouldn’t dream of putting up reviews of those. Everyones’ experience is unique and something I couldn’t get on with could become someone else’s favourite book.

Finally – for authors, I am open to requests to review books, but I can’t promise I’ll ever get around to it. Please don’t send any manuscripts, electronic or physical books without speaking to me first (I’m pretty much only interested in files I can get onto my kindle anyway). However if anyone else has great books to recommend, especially from other Indie authors, then I’d definitely love to hear about them!

That’s a great idea–and still more evidence that you’re way more organized than I am. I have corners, but they’re stuffed full of boxes of unread books and loads of unfolded clothes.

Ah well – the great thing about virtual corners is you can always add more of them! Our real corners are stuffed full of unread books, unfolded clothes and various pink fluffy toys!
