Hell ships, they are well named. They live on the suffering and life force of captured humans. Their biggest threat is a captain who'd lost his sister to one of the worst and has vowed to kill as many as he can.
I read this is one sitting and emotionally enjoyed the characters and the universe it was written in and would like to read on. An excellent series starter.
